Job Description

The Staff Geologist/Environmental Engineer will support investigation, characterization, and remediation work at contaminated sites, to include CERCLA, RCRA, or other properties. The candidate will be required to travel and perform field work activities on various projects in the US and internationally, and be capable of directing and working with subcontractors, and writing sections of environmental related documents. Travel up to 60% of the time with field mobilizations averaging two to three weeks.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or applicable Engineering.
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience with environmental characterization or remediation work.
  • Basic technical writing skills.
  • Interpretation and tabulation of analytical results from laboratory analysis reports.

MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Capable of performing physical field work, working in extreme conditions and walking over uneven ground.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including technical writing and Microsoft office software.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with basic understanding of mechanical systems.
  • Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet firm deadlines.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid US Passport and travel internationally.
  • Must be capable of accessing Department of Defense properties based upon a background check.
  • Must have or be able to obtain OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training, CPR, and Adult First Aid.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates should have strong geologic or environmental background, problem-solving skills, capable of working alone or in a team, self-motivated with solid time management, and a positive work attitude. The candidate will be required to travel internationally, with field mobilizations averaging two to three weeks. The candidate must be physically capable of performing environmental sampling or other activities. Attention to detail is mandatory when managing field samples and preparing for shipment.

Additional Prior Experience Preferred:

  • Environmental sampling of soil, sediment, groundwater, storm water, etc.
  • Logging of soil borings utilizing the USCS.
  • Operations and Maintenance of remediation systems.
  • Installation of groundwater monitoring wells and well development.
  • Thorough field documentation skills.
  • GPS operation.
