Location:  Falls Church, VA

Job Summary:

KaiHonua, LLC has an immediate opening for an Semantic Engineer to join our rapidly growing team. This position will be part of the team responsible for the improvement and maintenance of a government owned system as well as integrations with external data sources and other systems.  The candidate will work within a cohesive engineering team to design, develop, create, and modify general computer application software or specialized utility programs. The candidate will analyze user needs and develop software solutions. The candidate will design software or customize software for client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Not listed in order of importance; other duties may be assigned) and must be able to perform the following with minimal guidance:

  • Develop and maintain the Semantic Data Dictionary or Semantic Model as it relates to the established Data Model
  • Develop and maintain the Data Classification Rules that supports the Semantic Model
  • Analyzes existing data sets, applications, and services for relevancy
  • Develop and implement algorithms that work with structured and unstructured data
  • Develop semantic user interfaces that enable semantic data discovery and reporting; as well as classify, convert, transform, tag, integrate, and aggregate data sets using a semantic approach
  • Work with the Data Architect/Database Administrator to ensure updates to the Data Model are accounted for and integrated in the Semantic Model
  • Provide guidance on proper testing and validation methodology that is in accordance with the technical implementation of an ontology across environments to include testing and validating the semantic model, establishing a versioning strategy in accordance with existing configuration management plan(s), and automating the identification of mapping gaps that may arise as external ontologies are versioned
  • Prepare and provide updates to client identified deliverables and project documentation that include (but not limited to) technical manuals and SOPs
  • Provide advice on automating functions and integrating requirements with existing capabilities
  • Other duties as required

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Education / Experience / Certifications:

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related degree
  • Equivalent combination of knowledge and specialized experience may be acceptable in lieu of a degree
  • 5+ Yrs. experience in semantic capabilities and ontology development
  • Must possess and maintain an IT I level certification IAW AR 25-2 and an IAT- II certifications IAW DoD 8570.01-M
  • Secret Clearance

Knowledge:

  • Must have experience working with large data sets and establishing, updating, and maintaining a Semantic Ontology
  • Must have experience utilizing various semantic tools and capabilities and integrating them in to a technical solution or be able to provide recommendations to the government client with respect to semantic tools and capabilities
  • Experience with integrating semantic capability on an enterprise scale is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Transact-SQL (T-SQL) procedural language is a plus
  • Excellent customer service skills whether on the telephone or troubleshooting customer issues on-site; project a positive image and professional manner at all times; ability to work within the confines of a set time schedule.
  • Knowledge and experience communicating system analysis concepts to technical and non-technical personnel; ability to develop technical documents and produce system design documentation as required contract deliverables
  • CompTIA Security+ baseline and applicable semantic technology certification preferred. Microsoft certifications, Remedy ITSM and ITIL V3 certifications desired.
  • Strong people skills as well as good verbal and written communication skills and have a history of success with customer facing environments.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
