Job Summary:

KaiHonua, LLC has an immediate opening for an Information Security Specialist/COMSEC Custodian to join our rapidly growing team. The position requires an understanding of security related system controls and an understanding of the various Government security policies including NIST SP 800-53A and DoD 8570. The COMSEC custodian is responsible rekeying support during normal business hours and for actions concerning accountable COMSEC material charged to his account. This position may also be designated to perform COMSEC Custodian and keying of TACLANE, KIVs, KG 194’s, and STE keys. The custodian routinely does: Material receipt – formally acknowledges receiving keying material, publications, and equipment; Inventory – makes sure that COMSEC inventories of material and equipment are conducted and makes sure daily or shift-to-shift and other periodic inventories are conducted; Transfer – ensures that transfers of accountable material are properly reported and recorded; Accounting – makes sure material is accounted for, from receipt through final disposition and keeps publications current and promptly posts amendments; Destruction – makes sure COMSEC facility personnel are thoroughly familiar with emergency destruction procedures; and Reports – submits timely routine reports on the status of COMSEC material. The Information Security Specialist performs under general direction, uses current information security technology disciplines and practices to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of Government information assets in accordance with established standards and procedures. Develops and maintains knowledgebase on changing regulatory, threat, and technology landscapes to continually develop or maintain security policies and standards, and ensures compliance throughout the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Not listed in order of importance; other duties may be assigned) and must be able to perform the following with minimal guidance:

  • Supports the receipt, custody, issue, transfers, safeguarding, accounting for, and, when necessary, the destruction or COMSEC material
  • Provides training to other Security / IT personnel on COMSEC functions
  • Maintains accountability of COMSEC inventory from receipt to final disposition
  • Conducts daily or shift-to-shift and other periodic inventories as needed
  • Ensures COMSEC facility personnel are thoroughly familiar with emergency destruction procedures
  • Submits timely routine reports on the status of COMSEC material
  • Generates and Updates the site specific COMSEC Custodian Standard Operating Procedures
  • Complements COMSEC/security functions with strong software development or IT experience

Education / Experience / Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
  • 3+ years of experience performing Information Assurance functions and using RMF IT security controls and policies
  • Must possess and maintain an IT-II level certification IAW AR 25-2 and IAM I certifications IAW DoD 8570.01-M and BBP 05-PR-M- 0002
  • Secret Clearance
