Job Summary:

KaiHonua, LLC has an immediate opening for an IA Engineer to join our rapidly growing team.

Responsibilities: (Not listed in order of importance; other duties may be assigned) Must be able to perform the following with minimal guidance:

Responsible for all activities relating to information assurance procedures and systems. The IA Engineer applies IT security principles, methods, and security products to protect and maintain the availability, integrity, confidentiality, and accountability of information system resources and processed information; plans, implements, and manages a Defense In Depth for the total network and/or enclaves within the network; identifies and analyzes threats and vulnerabilities to the information systems to maintain protection, accomplish risk analysis, security testing, and certification due to modifications or changes, completes computer security plans, and enforces mandatory access control techniques; manages a network security program, reporting all incidents promptly and providing corrective action to prevent further incidents; implements guidance to ensure the protection of Internet information, reduces the risks associated with automated processing of information and data, and trains all personnel in IT security awareness, as required. Oversees the Risk Management Framework, circuit/system accreditation and certification policy services. Responsibilities also include:

  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and support firewalls.
  • Apply technical standards and security policy for LAN topologies and components; identify and remediate security vulnerabilities.
  • Configure and maintain enterprise network devices (i.e. layer 2 & 3 switches and routers); support and troubleshoot remote network services (VPN).
  • Configure and support Web-proxy.
  • Monitor web proxy cache hit rate / disk usage daily performance.
  • Draft and maintain Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents for the functional category.
  • Assist in ensuring Tenant Security Plans (TSPs) are complete and accurate.
  • Assist the Government with cybersecurity functional support for assessments, authorizations, and documentation of fielded systems managed by the Fort Hood NEC.
  • Provide qualified and cleared personnel to support the Fort Hood NEC with its Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes.
  • Utilize the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) to record RMF activities such as control implementation of all applicable Security Controls as identified via information system categorization in accordance with NIST SP 800-53 and CNSSI 1253 (Security controls are broken down into individual, measurable, statements called assessment procedures or Control Correlation Indicators (CCIs)) in accordance with DoDI 8510.01 (Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DoD Information Technology (IT)). The number of families and controls will vary depending on the security categorization (C-I-A), the application overlays (privacy, classified, intel, etc.) and any security control tailoring.
  • Assist the Government Capability Manager / Information System Owner (ISO) in ensuring that the information systems are configured in accordance with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), applicable patches and other cybersecurity requirements.
  • Support the Government in following the DoD cybersecurity policy requirements set forth in DoDI 8500.01, “Cybersecurity,” and DoDI 8510.01, “Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DoD Information Technology (IT)” and their successors.
  • Provide support for the independent assessment of compliance of information systems with DoD RMF standards using DoDI 8510.01.
  • Provide personnel with extensive experience with DoD security hardening, collection and assessment tools (STIGs, ACAS SCAP, Nessus, etc.) and experience with security architectures, firewalls and network access.
  • Possess extensive experience in cybersecurity documentation and system authorization artifacts (System Security Plan, lifecycle documentation, continuous monitoring plan, Security Assessment Plan, Security Assessment Report, Risk Assessment, etc.).
  • Have extensive knowledge of and review the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Knowledge Service which is the DoD’s official site for enterprise RMF policy and implementation guidelines.
  • Review and ensure that any RMF activities on behalf of the Fort Hood NEC adhere to the operational Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) and Operations Orders that are hosted on the US Army Component Workspace – Operations tab of the RMF Knowledge Service. The TTPs provide amplifying guidance and process implementation for the Army regarding RMF.
  • Provide technical input on CoN submissions.
  • Provide network IT systems hardware and software patch management functions.
  • Assist Government personnel to identify root cause and remediation of unsuccessful patches.
  • Patch IT and network devices in accordance with RMF, STIG and IAVA requirements, mitigate failures, maintain and report on number of patches applied to Army systems and the resulting outcome of each update/ patch.
  • Review systems logs for intrusion attempts and other malicious activity.
  • Take immediate action to remedy system vulnerabilities and shall coordinate their efforts including security incident response with Government personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
  • Must possess and maintain an IT- II level certification, IAT II(Security +)
  • Secret Clearance
  • Experience with wireless monitoring.
  • Knowledge of log collection and analysis.
  • Experience with CiscoWorks, NetView, Wireless protocols (802.11b/g/n), Wireless Authentication Protocols (EAP, PEAP, EAP-TLS and EAP-TTLS, etc.) and Solarwinds Orion software (NPM, netflow, and virtualization, etc.) on a heterogeneous network; thorough understanding of network protocols and services (TCP, UDP, IP, STP, CDP, HSRP, DNS, DHCP, VTP, VPN, FTP, TFTP, IAS, VoIP, NAT and Dot1.x).
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting network components (ASA 5500 Series Adaptive Security Appliances, 3000/4000/5000/6000 series multilayer switches and routers, Cisco Unified IP Phones, etc.).
  • Knowledge and experience communicating IA concepts to technical and non-technical personnel; ability to develop technical documents and produce system design documentation.
  • Excellent customer service skills; project a positive image and professional manner at all times; ability to work within the confines of a set time schedule.
  • Must meet DoD 8570.01-M requirements at date of hire.The required position category is IT-I.
