Job Summary

Candidate will be responsible for managing hardware/software and configuration changes, CCB change requests. Guides and assists in conducting major surveys, problem analysis and development of solutions to assigned application product development projects as well as schedules and cost objectives. Makes recommendations based on approved government hardware and software. Evaluates use of available products and equipment, suggest plans for improvement, better utilization, standards of reliability and performance of assigned segment of the development effort. Develops and maintains Change Management procedures, workflows and job aids. The Configuration Manager is responsible for education of change request submitters and implementers on the Change Management Process. Works independently under overall project objectives and requirements; apprises Program Manager about progress and unusual complications. Conducts configuration management (CM) planning and describes provisions for configuration identification, change control, configuration status accounting, and configuration audits and develops documentation for CM planning and activities. Identifies and maintains the original and subsequent configuration versions of requirements documentation, design documentation, and network/software/other related documentation.  Manages configuration change control and regulates the change process so that only approved and validated changes are incorporated into product documents and related hardware and software; performs other duties as assigned or required. Superior attention to detail and process compliance is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Must be able to perform the following:

  • Experience tracking and controlling multiple versions of coexisting applications at various stages in the software life cycle by applying technical and administrative direction and surveillance over the life cycle of items; controlling, recording and reporting on configuration changes; maintaining specifications, drawings, software versions, and verifying conformance to configuration documentation; and auditing STIG configuration items, practices, and procedures to verify conformance to specifications, drawings, and interface control documents.
  • Conduct research on process improvement.
  • Ensure software policies and procedures remain current and up-to-date.
  • Develop, implement and maintain internal policies, procedures and associated training plans.
  • Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team
  • Coordinates software quality assurance process audit definition and activities
  • Initiates actions to define, document, and maintain the CCB, including roles and responsibilities of CCB members
  • Initiates actions to define hardware and software configuration processes and procedures, version control processes, policies, and procedures to ensure they are followed on hardware and software development projects

Education and/or Experience

  • Experience must be recent and include two (2) years significant work with leading projects to successful completion. Should possess certifications in related areas and have clear goals of additional certifications needed to support emerging technologies.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
  • 6+ years of experience performing the duties of a configuration manager
  • Experience with ITILv3 methodologies
  • Must possess and maintain an IT-II level certification and appropriate computing environment certification
  • Secret Clearance
